How We Pave on Pittsburgh's Hills
Elite Asphalt Paving Pittsburgh builds and maintains asphalt driveways, parking areas and private lanes in the City of Pittsburgh and the boroughs and townships around it. The work runs from new and replacement driveways to pothole and edge repair, crack sealing, resurfacing, sealcoating and small-to-mid-size parking lots.
Pavement here takes a harder beating than cost guides assume. Pittsburgh is a city of hills, with ground ranging from about 710 feet at the rivers to 1,370 feet on the high ridges, and many driveways are short, steep cuts into a slope. Winters bring an average of 44 inches of snow, plowing, salt and repeated freezing and thawing. Water that gets into a crack in November can heave and break the asphalt by March. So every job starts with the same questions: what is under the asphalt, where does the water go, and how steep is it?
At the estimate we measure the area, check the grade at the garage and at the street, look for soft spots, heaved sections and broken edges, and note whether the driveway meets a city street, a borough or township road, or a state highway. Each has its own permit rules for work at the curb, and we tell you up front which ones apply.
What you can expect
- A written, itemized quote: removal, base work, stone depth, compacted asphalt thickness and any drainage work, each priced.
- A straight repair-or-replace answer. If patching and crack sealing will buy you years, we say so.
- Utility locates requested through PA One Call at least three business days before excavation.
- Paving scheduled for dry ground and workable temperatures, not just the next open date.
- Any change to the scope put in writing for your approval before the work is done.
